Top Two Breakfast Essentials

Growing up I've always been into sports and fitness, I guess you could call me a tom boy. I rather climb trees and play sports then play with barbies. I grew up playing soccer, took ten years of karate, volleyball.. fast forward to adult years I'm into body building, powerlifting, and now olympic lifting and CrossFit. How do I have the time? I make time to take care of myself. I find that working out is a huge stress reliever for me! My life is pretty hectic right now with trying to close on a house, packing, purging, taking care of the boys--all while my husband is away. Even if it's 30 minutes a day, it is enough! It is important to make time and take care of yourself.
I just wanted to share with you today what I like to eat for breakfast. I'm on the go a lot so it's very important that I eat something filling to keep me full until lunch!
1. Oats
Very simple to make and very filling! I had an intense workout yesterday and I decided I needed a bowl of oats for recovery. I like to use quick oats because it cooks a lot faster then old fashioned oats. Quick oats generally cook in 1 1/2 to 2 minutes whereas old fashioned oats can take up to 3 minutes or longer in the microwave. I've even cooked them on the stove!
Ingredients:
Quick oats, any brand will do
Milk of choice, I used almond milk
Cinnamon
Pumpkin pie spice [told you I loved pumpkin]
Your favorite toppings: fruit, nuts, chia seeds, etc.
Mix oats, milk, and seasonings. Microwave for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, stir. Then top with your favorite toppings! I used chopped bananas, chia seeds, and a McCormick Breakfast Topper for my oats yesterday. I also like to make scrambled egg whites or sunny side up eggs to add protein!
2. Acai bowl
Another simple dish! You can buy powder form of acai but I find that the frozen packs are a lot easier to use. With the powder I had to put so much into the smoothie to get it the right consistency. The frozen puree pack I just added milk of my choice and a fruit. Easy!
Ingredients:
1 frozen puree pack
1/2 banana
1/4 cup almond milk
Your favorite toppings: coconut flakes, fruit, chia seeds, nuts, etc.
Blend the frozen puree, banana, and milk together until smooth consistency. Pour into a bowl and top it off with some delicious toppings! In my photo I have coconut flakes, chia seeds, blackberries, and the other half of the banana. I also make a side of scrambled egg whites to add protein.
As you can see my Dyrk1a Warrior enjoys it too! I need to start hiding in the kitchen, he's a smoothie bowl bandit!

Yummy absolutely and m happy my toddler is going to love it too
My favorite breakfast is Kodiak Buttermilk Power Protein Pancakes and eggs with coffee! I eat that at least 3 times a week! I love it!!
These seem to still be all the rage. And smoothie bowls, which I dont get. But basically this is just oatmeal that you cater for yourself? Even I can do that!
your oat breakfast sounds delicious, I might have to try it sometime (I have the ingredients here already! #bonus) although im usually lucky if I can get a bowl of cereal or finish a single cup of coffee with how hectic my mornings are around here.
Yum, these both look delicious! I've never had acai before, but my oldest son likes to have oatmeal almost every morning. I'll have to try this recipe for him tomorrow and see how he likes it.
This breakfast meal looks yummy and delicious. I like it :) Nice workout :)
I actually don't eat breakfast so I have no GO - TO. That being said, the first meal I eat for the day is typically around 11:30/12 and I always either want Chipotle, a grass-fed burger, or a weird seafood stir fry mix that I love! :)
I have never made an acai bowl, but I think I should soon! They look healthy but are also just so pretty to look at! haha
These look delicious and so healthy. Thanks for sharing, especially the photos. It gives me great ideas for some new things to try.
I like your oats recipe, it sounds like I would like it a lot. My go to is also oats, what ever flavor is ok, I usually stick to original and it keeps me going for at least half a day. Myself not so big at the smoothie ones :)
Mmm, these both look so good - thx for including the recipes! My go-to's are either yogurt parfait (berries, nuts, maybe some granola) in the summer, or oatmeal (either overnight oats or microwaved with fresh fruit in it) in the winter. Will have to try your recipes sometime!
I always love a simple breakfast and sweet is even better. This recipes look delicious and I would love to try them soon.
That sounds like an awesome breakfast option. I love incorporating banana into my breakfast.
These two breakfast options sound and look delicious! I have to try them.
These look so GOOD! I've been looking for some new ideas for breakfast! Cant wait to try these.
Ooo, pumpkin spice in oatmeal - never thought of it, but sounds yummy! :) Good for you on the fitness training. I used to, YEARS ago (like 18 or so), and at one time, bench pressed 250 lbs., my personal best. I'm 60 now and don't think I'll ever get back to that kind of heavy lifting, although I still like working out with much lighter weights.
Thank you!
Yum, I love Kodiak. I haven't tried the buttermilk ones!
Yes you can! :)
Thank you! I love overnight oats well! You pop in the fridge overnight, forget about them, and then grab them on the go in the morning = perfect!
Thank you! Did your son like it?
Thank you <3
