Our First Flight!

Boy let me tell you how nervous I was prepping for this flight! I have flown before, many, many times before. I was an Air Force brat who PCS'd every few years, flown with my oldest a couple times... I'm seasoned when it comes to flying.
HOWEVER.. Flying with TWO children and ONE with Special Needs? That had my stomach in knots. I made sure I packed enough snacks of fishies, veggie straws, formula, and packed some toys and my son's Kindle Fire tablet.
I was a sweaty mess when we got to the gate.. got onto the plane and the stewardess looked at me with disbelief and asked: "Do you have anyone to help you?" I shook my head no and kept on trucking to our row of seats at the back of the plane.
I didn't have have time to stop and purchase water after going through TSA so I asked the stewardess for a bottle of water. She gave me a HUGE bottle and recommended that I had something for him to suck on during take off..
Made me even more nervous.
I had his bottle prepped and ready, JJ playing his Kindle Fire, and the plane started to move. Then the plane started going faster and faster.. then the ascend. And you know what Jaxson did? He LAUGHED.
Yes, you read correctly, he LAUGHED.
He even laughed during the DESCEND.
I don't know if it was a fluke or what but I hope our flight back to Florida is a breeze too!

THIS is what terrifies me greatly but it sounds like you had an a ok experience!!! I am having a kid in December - and my husband and I ADORE traveling so we know we will be traveling soon after our kid comes... My husband has no worries in the world but I am all - OH GOSH, I am going to be that mom with the crazy child LOL!
Haha, thank you Chelf! The routine flight home was just as funny as well -- Thank god! He doesn't do well in cars, AT ALL.
Awww, congratulations GiGi <3 That is exciting! My oldest does great, I flew with him when he was five months old. He did get fussy but giving him the boob/bottle definitely helped! :) You got this!
Aww, I’m glad you had an easy first flight. I wasn’t sure what to expect my first time flying with both boys, but I’ve dont it so many times now it’s no big deal. My oldest screamed during the landing the first time he flew and people were giving me nasty looks. Like I didn’t want to calm him more than anyone else!
I'm glad to hear your flight was easy! We flew my daughter across the country as an infant to get home after a month long NICU stay and that was the easiest thing ever. She loved it. We are going to Flordia in February when she will be newly 2 and hope our experience is as good as yours!
Our children surprise us every time! We over prepare and plan for the worst and they show us the best! Great blog!
I'm so happy for you that the flight went well!! I fly several times a year with 2 small kids (ages 3 and 1) and let me tell you... it ain't easy!! Sometimes it is super easy and they pig out on cheerios and watch pj masks and sometimes it's like they're possessed!!
Oh wow it seems like the flight went so well! Yay for laughing! I really hope the flight back works as well.
Aww how lovely! I'm so glad he enjoyed his first plane ride
That is so sweet! I’m pretty sure most kids scream and cry because of the ear popping. I’m glad it was a good experience!
Yay! Good to know that your flight went so much fine. I love that he laughed too, seems like he enjoyed the flight. Good luck and hope it will be just fine too on your flight back.
You were so brave! Can't imagine handling three kids flying alone by yourself!
Hey Stephanie, oh no! People should be more understanding about children and flying -- be more empathetic.
Hey Patricia -- I hope your flight in February will be as good as ours as well. Definitely bring lots of snacks and activities for her ;)
Thank you Bee!
LOL. Oh no! That's the same with my oldest son JJ, he's 5. Sometimes he's just GREAT, playing with his tablet and munching on snacks, but other times.... AHHHHH.
Thank you Sarah, it was the same! He giggled and fell asleep :)
Thank you Alice!
Thank you Ebonye, I've been blessed with both kids not doing too bad with flying! <3
Thank you Jona -- he laughs at the silliest things! He's definitely a happy and carefree baby!
I bet that lifted a weight of worry off your shoulders once he laughed. I hope your flight back is just as perfect x
I am glad to hear it went so well. Crossing my fingers for you that it is the same on the return flight.
Omg how cute is that? You may have a pilot in the making on your hands haha! Funny how we sometimes worry about things that go the other way
The first time flying with an infant can be stressful and flying alone with multiple kids is a challenge. Good job mama!!
Thank you Mama in Heels ;)
Thank you Charli, it definitely made travel less stressful. I was just nervous going back because our layover was in a big airport -- Charolette, NC.
Thank you Mail 4 Rosey!
Hahaha, thank you Ching. Right, he could be a pilot when he grows up!
Thank you Lasha! <3
Aww he did so good flying out as a baby! This really put a smile on my face :)
Glad he had a great flight. Some kids are naturally great travellers. My kids would periodically cry the entire flight. For no clear reason.
Dont you just love it when the small ones do so well on flight? mine was an amazing flyer when he was little, however this last flight made me want to cry.
Wow, that sounds like quite the hectic story. I love to travel, but I hate airports. It's bad enough when I'm doing it myself. I can't begin to imagine being in your shoes. You're a trooper!
Awww, thank you. I'm glad that he was able to put a smile on your face ;)
Thank you Dr. Momma!
Oh no Tia!! What happened on your last flight?
I can imagine that when my kid first time experienced it and how painful it was for them.
So amazing to fly... hectic yet it's really a great experience... isn't it? the memories are just unbeatable~ sweet
Thank you Jean! I dislike flying as well, I just hate how crowded the airport is and TSA is usually rude.
Yes, it is hard on children!
Yes Kyle thank you. It is amazing and I'll remember this forever <3
I remember our first flight. I was terrified but it went surprisingly smoothly.
What an adorable post! I don't think I few with my kids when they were kids because I just knew I couldn't handle it, my kids were big time crybabies until around 3 years old, ha ha. My mom always said "there's already enough crying children on planes as is." Thanks for sharing! :)
Im so happy it was a positive experience for your little one! Definitely takes the worry off of you <3
I think my mom shared your feelings back when my brother and I were kids. And even more so when we started to fly with my sister as a baby.
I'm glad yours went well for you too!
Thank you Stephanie! <3
I'm sure she did! My mom flew with my brother and I when we were both under the age of 3. I don't know how she did it!
Hahahaha. Thank you for sharing your story! :)
